Tantra too have tried Gandhi themes....infact they have tried every single thing which is 'indian' to the west.

this was evident from the IPO of provogue in recent times....oversubscribed by 70 times !!!!

T Shirts looks like a great idea. And T' Shirts with prints in Kannada looks unique. We should try this defintely. I haven't seen a face more popular than Che Guievera (I hope spell that correctly) on T shirts. I felt we could use 'Gandhi' for the same. Lot of people might hate him but we cannot ignore the BRAND. We could also try some sort of signature collections ( I am still not sure how practicle it is). Anywayz casuals will come big way in India in a couple of years. We don't often see people dressing real casuals (T shirts and shorts). Once when people realize the simplicity they will get hooked to it (imagine the relief in summers).  The punch line could be 'Make It Simple' or 'Keep It Simple'. I am sure you can think of a better line :-))
The point is its definitely worth trying this T shirt stuff. Let me know your views.

Learning to learn

Learning to learn means having a fundamental understanding of a latticework of concepts which will allow you to build and refine your mental models of the world around. It means having an openness which does not hesitate to question (or be questioned) on what one knows. It means looking around and thinking about what is happening, and placing the event in perspective. To build this rich model, you will need to read widely and think deeply. Keep these words from Charlie Munger in mind:



I've long believed that a certain system - which almost any person can learn - works way better than the systems that most people use. What you need is a latticework of mental models in your head. And you hang your actual experience and your vicarious experience (that you get from reading and so forth) on this latticework of powerful models. And with that system, things gradually get to fit together in a way that enhances cognition.

And you need the models - not just from one or two disciplines, but from all the important disciplines. You need the best 100 or so models from microeconomics, physiology, psychology particularly, elementary mathematics, hard science and engineering [and so on].

You don't have to be a huge expert in any of those worlds. All you've got to do is to take the really big ideas and learn them early and well.

Lotso my friends who have graduated few years back just do not seem to appreciate the idea of continued learning. learning stopped when they graduated. Feel very sorry.

well, my favorite method is to stall and keep talking. The key to success with table topic is to keep talking regardless of what comes of out of your mouth. Simmilar to what the writers call Free Writing. You do Free Talking. For example,

"Thank you for asking that question Mr. Table Topic Master, I am so glad that you asked me that question. Let me make sure that I understand what you are asking me. you are asking me to answwer a question that says, why do donkeys make such terrible noise? Am I to understand you correctly? phew, I am sure glad that I got that right, for a second I thought you said why do monkeys make such terriblw noises. Not that it will make any difference, because in either case I don't have the slightest ideas of why they do that. How ever, I must admit that the monkeys area lot more cuter when they make those those terrible noises that the donkey are when they make those terrible noises, Don't you think so? I must give you credit for coming up with such an ingenious question for me to answer for which I don't have an answer. Where is the timer? is my one minute up yet? wow, I made it. heu I think this is not so bad after all, ask me again next week and see if I can make a bigger fool out of myself trying to answer this type of questions. But then again I may surprise everyone including myself by coming up with an intelligent answer like Eisnstien or Issac Asimov might do. I think I am tired of talking. Thank you for the opportunity to practise thinking on my feet."

The idea is to be yourself and forget about what anybody would think of you when you answer these questions. Have fun with it and I promise you will come out a better person in the end. More poised and more confident. I hope this helps.

Employable talents is definitely a concern, more so when many are investing in bringing up B-type-schools, grossly ignoring the elementary education.

Rising pay scales, are we being paid on a higher end for our kind of jobs ?! This is definitely debatable...though my savings account dries up in a week's time after 31st :(
